Hoop Pole Cove
The Hoop Pole Cove name is taken from the name of the tributary with the same name on the quad sheet. Furthermore, the ridge that Little Sandy's is on and the radio towers on 219 south of the Sand Flat Road is named Hoop Pole Ridge. Local myth says that it was named by the Indians where they cut slender trees to make hoops to dry skins. They were probably the same Indians who named Sand Flat.
