Shoreline Erosion
There are a number of studies in the literature that evaluate the effects of boat wakes on shoreline erosion. Most are concerned with large ships traveling in rivers or moving along the sea coast line. However, there are several studies that deal with small boats, even towing a waterskier. For example, extensive study was done edited by Chris Zabawa and Chris Ostro entitled: FINAL REPORT ON THE ROLE OF BOAT WAKES IN SHORE EROSION IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, dated Dec. 1 1980. The full report of this study can be found here. The following chart is from that report.
