Shoreline Erosion at DCL - A003_07-46-42 (3 of 135)

The natural vegetation along the shoreline works somewhat, but these circumstances are very atypical of around the lake. The slope is not very steep. Sheet flow from farm land carries sediment, most likely with nutrients. They promote the growth of the brush. An extensive flat area of shallow sediment allows grass growth. Another factor also is that this is a wind-sheltered cove, with not a lot of wave action, except from boats. An fortunately there is not much boat traffic because of the shallowness of the cove.
